Best time for filmmakers to try crowdfunding

I recently posted about Indiegogo Film Handbook – a short guide for filmmakers who want to leverage crowdfunding platform for their projects. Right after I got e newsletter from Kickstarter about The New York Times featuring Made with Kickstarter on their website.

Documentary filmmaking has always thrived on Kickstarter, and we couldn’t be prouder of all the incredible work that’s gathered funding on the site. Starting this month, we’ll be teaming up with an exciting institution to share even more of the fantastic work this community has brought to life: The New York Times.

It is indeed an unprecedented opportunity to receive funds AND gain publicity while doing that. Moreover, these platforms (especially Indiegogo) are open for filmmakers worldwide. So if you have a great film idea, but are not yet on the crowdfunding bandwagon – it’s the best time to get on.
